Solugen has a rich pipeline of high performance and carbon negative molecules launching on its Bioforge TM manufacturing platform. Each molecule is destined for a corresponding pipeline of products co-created by Solugen’s customers and product development teams. The Project Manager, Product Development will have a critical role curating and translating this pipeline from the Proof-of-Concept stage into Sales Ready Products as part of the New Product Introduction process. This individual will create and manage the Product Requirements Document (PRD) for a portfolio of products by collaborating at the interface of Product Development, Product Marketing, Business Development, Process Development, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Sustainability. As products progress from conception to commercialization, this individual will champion the elimination or deeper investment of resources into each product. Ultimately, this individual is accountable to the creation of a >$10M GP portfolio within 5 years.


  • Curate a product portfolio that achieves >$10M GP within 5 years
  • Implement systematic and rigorous product development processes (e.g. Product Lifecycle Management, NPI, Stage Gate, Real Win Worth it, etc.) that improve the predictability of successful products, improve the ROI on product development, and reduce the commercialization timeline
  • Leads a team of Product Managers and Analysts in running the New Product Introduction process in partnership with the marketing team
  • Manage 2-5 new core chem products and their associated product launches as part of the New Product Introduction process within the first 12 months

  • Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (Advanced degrees up to PhD preferred)
  • 5-8 years of experience as an analyst at consulting firm such as McKinsey, BCG, Bain or equity research for investment banking
  • Knowledge of product management and/or development
  • Certificate in Project Management (PMP) is a must or he/she must love Microsoft Projects and Gantt Chart
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project
  • Persuasive presentation abilities and ability to influence many different personalities
  • Strong analytical thought process for analyzing product & market fit, market approaches, market wants and needs and measures of effectiveness
  • A curious, creative & self-starter individual who can thrive in a dynamic start-up environment
  • Must be nimble and able to multi-task. Able to manage multiple project
  • Has executive presence and can represent Solugen in conferences or in customer meetings
  • Local candidate in Houston/Sugar Land is preferred. However, we will consider a Rockstar from other locations
  • Critical thinker who can utilize their experience and quickly draw conclusions based on incomplete data. He/she is not afraid to propose and try new ideas and methods
