Mission

Reporting to the Director of Automation, this individual will support the in-house automation projects execution, including conducting gap analysis of automation tactics, technology and capabilities required to achieve desired outcomes; develop automation strategies, tactics, and capability to support process innovation. The Engineering E&I Manager will coach teams through problem solving and execution phases to drive rigor in outcome development, supporting tactics, and process and technology.

Key Outcomes

  • Work alongside company leadership to improve process performance
  • Identify and address gaps in competency and technology to improve plant and personnel performance
  • Provide a structured problem-solving approach and collaborate with engineers to maximize performance
  • Seek and follow up on the use of innovative new technology that has potential to improve productivity, reduce costs and enhance safety performance
  • Participate as key member of Engineering group to design all aspects of control systems and low voltage power distribution, from cradle to grave, to support new and expansion plant projects, to include:
    • Low voltage power distribution
    • Control power distribution
    • Control panel design
  • Support Operations and Maintenance by providing I&E troubleshooting support

  • Comfortable following safety protocols and wearing personal protective equipment—including hard hats, gloves, earplugs, and respirators--in work zones
  • Good familiarity with Office products as well as a general level of comfort with online communication and work management platforms such as Dropbox, Google Doc, and Slack
  • Basic understanding of project scheduling software (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera)
  • Analytical approach to problem solving, with a focus on managing a team environment with attention to results and a sense of urgency
  • Competent in plant control systems, primarily Rockwell Automation, but also Siemens, IDEC, and Automation Direct platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to engineer and design low voltage power distribution systems (MCC, switchgear, switchboard, etc.) for 480 VAC and below

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and minimum 5 years full-time experience, or a minimum 15 years full-time as an Controls/I&E professional.
